Driving to Breb and the Village Hotel

Bus to Breb and the Village Hotel

Although you can get to Breb, Maramureş from  Baia Mare – Cavnic – Ocna Sugatag- and Sighet via bus or mini bus. Our village is not listed as an official stop, so take Ocna Sugatag (5km from Breb) as a reference point, and let the driver know that you want to get off at Breb. You will probably spot the Orthodox new church of Breb from the road, so keep an eye out.

There are buses from Cluj Napoca that run to Baia Mare .Then there are two or three a day from Baia Mare to Sighetu Marmatiei via Cavnic . It costs approximately 10 lei from Baia Mare to be dropped off at the turning for Breb where we will pick you up and bring you down to the Village Hotel. Alternatively, walking down is straightforward as the Village Hotel is well sign-posted, it takes about quarter of an hour and will allow you to enjoy a fantastic view at your leisure.

Getting the Train to Maramures and the Village Hotel.

Trains in Romania are slow, cheap and an interesting experience. Every Romanian complains about how long it takes to get to overnight train from Bucharest to Sighetu Marmației it’s £20 and you get a great bed, a good night’s sleep and it can be very sociable if you want to meet Romanians and hear what they have to say. There are good international connections to Baia Mare and  Sighetu. There is now a train that runs from Budapest to Sighetu it’s  quite a long trip, but it is direct so you can sleep all the way.
